I need that a computer works like server for live video, dvd and deprived television channels of the university in which study.

As I had a good experience with vlc seemed to me good idea to install vls for this task; but when following the installation passages I had problems at the time of compile (details down).

Serching in the forum I notice that several users have the same problem and I couldn't find solution there, but a friend advised to me to use rpm.

Using rpm other problems arise to me because it requests libdvbpsi1 to me and I have installed libdvbpsi which I believe is newest.

I know that the project of vls has time without being updated but I'd like to know, how to solve my problem or what distribution and version of linux works correctly? or about another server (of distribution GNU or Free) could make the functions that I need
