VLS ./configure problems (different from others)

Postby MooseWood » 12 Oct 2004 07:29

I saw other configure problems, but none like this.

I am trying to compile vls-0.5.6 on a FreeBSD 5.2.1 system and am getting
errors doing the ./configure step.

I have downloaded, configured, compiled, and installed libdvdread-0.9.4 and
libdvbpsi3-0.1.4. /usr/local/include/dvdread/* and
/usr/local/include/dvbpsi/* exist and look fine.

When I attempt to configure vls, I get:

checking for dvbpsi headers in /usr/local/include... checking dvbpsi/dvbpsi.h usability... no
checking dvbpsi/dvbpsi.h presence... no
configure: error: Could not find libdvbpsi on your system: you may get it from...

I get the same error with libdvdread.
Any ideas why the vls configure script can not find these files?

Make sure to add paths for configure to actually find these.
You may also need to add paths to compiler & linker while making vls.

try that

At the beginning, I had the same problem, I think you forgot one step.
I think it's a linking problem.

I will look for it, and post a solution, it's in the how-to, too.

Ah okay I have it
1.step:
look in your system in etc/ld.so.conf.
If that file doesn't exist, you have to add that file.
In that file(ld.so.conf) you have to put following line in: /usr/local/lib
if the line is already not there. Then save the file.
You have to do this, that the system can link vls to the needing libraries.
but to make the system do that you have to do one more step.

2.step:
type in a console:
ldconfig

I'm a newbie, but try that, for me that worked.

Just to say, that development around VLS has been dropped and you can do everything with VLC. But for you problem, I don't know.
