Streaming from PVR on RH9 - RPM or CVS?

The HowTo states

You must add --enable-pvr to ./configure to use this feature. <snip>

I wish to stream from a PVR250...does the above mean that I cannot use the RPM's to install VLC, but will have to use the CVS version?

you have to download the source files and compile with:

./configure --enable-pvr
make
make install
