Error: Unable to change value for option 35: Invalid argumen

Discussion on the (deprecated) VideoLAN Server application as well as the miniSAPserver stream announcer. This is not about VLC!

I'm running VLS on SuSE Linux with kernel 2.4.18. VLS works nicely except that I cannot start a multicast -- I'm getting the above message. A unicast works fine.

Any ideas?
