I'de *love* to be able to watch my TiVo recordings via the network and VLS + Linux seem to match up nicely. The hardware is a bit weak though (150 Mhz ppc, 16 MB ram, hw mpeg coders; details at http://tivo.samba.org/index.cgi?req=all ) The main challenges are the weird storage format (TCL interfaces exist) and the low memory footprint.
The MIPS based Series 2 boxes have a "home media option" for $100 per TiVo and require the $12.95 per month service for each participating box...
Are there any TiVo hackers here?
Cheers!
