Need Help with remote channel changing (php)

Postby Wim » 13 Apr 2005 17:06

Hey,

I have reading a lot on this forum, but i didn't found a solution yet.

I'm working on a project that will be used for monitor control.
I have a server (REDHAT 9) that runs as webserver Apache and php, i have VLC 0.8.1 and i going to have a captured card (Hauppage PVR 350)

With that I want to stream my incoming signal van my captured card true my LAN to a client (Windows XP).

I am so far that when I choose a moviefile on my server side and stream it, i can see it in a browser on a client in a WMP pug-in. That's great

But, the next step is to try to remote change a moviefile on the client so that when I push a link on my webpage, he goes to my server and vlc starts up and streams the file true so I can see it in my browser.

Problem: I understand that for remote change I need to use a PHP-script that speaks with VLC on my server side... But I know nothing about scripting. So I have search here and on the internet but when I found some information I didn't understand it...

Solution: Is there no simpel php script that just start up vlc on the server side and streams a file to my client side?
I'm running out of time and I can't found a solution for my problem!

Please help

Thank you

Regard

Wim
