stream a mpeg with http

I am going to stream a mpeg with unicast http mode, can I just ask a few of my friends to view it with VLC at any time like normal small video on some websites? Or only one of them can view it. If 2 or 3 of them view at it the same time, is it going to quite slow? Thanks.
