The VLC media player is both a client and a server. We will release a new document shortly, which describes the streaming features in detail. There is also a server-software from our project called VideoLAN Server (VLS), but it is outdated and wasn't about for at least a year, so I strongly recommend you to use VLC (which has much more features, is more stable and is controlled by a nice, easy-to-use GUI).

help me please. you've said that i'd better use vlc instead vls .
but i have a problem with vlc.
i stream to network using ddshow. stream by http to local network.
while connecting to me from another computer wmplayer outputs error
it says that he've reached the end of the file.
please post the documentation about streaming.
because i've read the one on your site. and heven't find something about my problem or how to stream to network from my tv tuner.

best regards VERSUS.

To stream from VLC to WMP, what I use (settings in Stream Output):
mmsh stream, put in address 127.0.0.1 in the address box
ASF Encapsulation method
DIV3 Video codec (in Transcoding options)
mp3 Audio codec (in Transcoding options)
The default Audio and Video bitrates are OK, for starters.

A WMP client then does an Open URL, and types:
mms://the_server_PC_IP_address:1234

any other variants ? :)
With this there are also problems.
clients WMPlayer connects to my stream and tries to load buffer. loads it, plays for several seconds and then all stops and WMP loads buffer from the beginning. that repeats three or four times and WMP stops and says that there is an error.
is there any other variant to stream to local network to any player in Windows XP
help me please
