Backwards sound

OK, I am new at this. I downloaded and installed VideoLAN, and it works well on the first try! however, I have a 5.1 soundcard and speakers, and when I tell it to go to 5.1 sound, the front speakers are playing out the back, and **SPAM ALERT** versa. It works properly when I tell it to go to stereo. The set up works properly with every other program, and the speakers are installed correctly in the right plugs. I am using XP Pro. What can I do to correct this? Thanx!!

bahah I have the same problem, but only when using the Windows Media HD demo showcase files i DLed from the site. It works fine everywhere else, but when played in VLC, the voice comes from the rear right speaker. Meh, WMV HD is useless and rarely used so I don't really care.
