end to end system with Darwin Streaming Server and VLC

Postby tarikbenn » 20 Apr 2007 10:45

Hi everybody, i know that it is a forum dealing with VLC , but since it is dealing with streaming , i'm convinced that some of you are accommodated to Darwin streaming server ( dss ) also! So here is my first question : to stream files .mp4 from dss to vlc , the files .mp4 need to be hinted. So i have tried to hint a .mp4 by many softwares : AVgen and xMT (ibmtoolkitformpeg4), mp4IP and mp4ui. but no way to the .mp4 to be hinted ! So i would be really pleased if any ony have faced the same problem and could tell me how to fix that. And thanks in addvance

Hi,

Free QuickTime Player with Quicktime Alternative can be used to encode & hint an MP4 file. Follow these steps accordingly:
Install quicktime alternative, after that install quicktime player - when installer asks for Destination Folder, click Change... button and change default path to C:\Program Files\Quicktime. After that, click OK, Install. In order to hint MP4: load mpeg file, click File -> export -> Movie to Hinted Movie
You can install Quicktime Alternative from : http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net ... taller.exe
and Quicktime player from : http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net ... taller.exe

njoy!
