Is there a way to copy a screenshot to clipboard?

Is it possible to write a script in Lua that will create a screenshot from a video, have a hotkey and save it to the clipboard?
UPD:
I wrote a simple script to copy a snapshot to the clipboard on any system (Linux, Mac OS, Windows). Any review code is welcome
