Extensions vs Addons vs Plugins

Postby iulianOnofrei » 28 Aug 2020 23:00

There are these menus:
- VLC > Extensions
- VLC > Addons Manager
- VLC > Preferences > Show All > Advanced > Advanced settings (left) > Plugins (right)

So, are they really called in 3 different ways? :(

Just check VLC folder structure.
Addons:
- Plugins
- Lua scripts: Playlist and websites parsers, Art fetchers, Interfaces, Extensions, Services Discovery
- Skins

I'm asking from a non-technical end user perspective. Shouldn't the menus be called the same? A simple user doesn't know, and doesn't need to know, about Lua, or what the technical difference between a plugin and a script is.
