Youtube Feeds as Podcasts

After using VLC for … ages, I just recently discovered that it could play Youtube videos directly.
(seriously, how awesome is that)
So, the next thing I tried if it would also read youtube's feeds and generate a playlist from it - which apparently it doesn't.
These feeds are can be accessed via Youtube's API, e.g. http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/use ... results=50 shows NukeTheStars' last 50 uploads.
Unfortunatly these feeds do not contain the neccessary tags so that VLC would recognize them as podcasts.
But, since VLC does handle youtube videos and also has a Podcast feature, I was wondering if it was possible to extract the information from the feed with a lua script.
