Play on a different screen

Hello,

I'm planing to insert some videos inside a drama show. I want the public to ignore all about technicall features, this is why I think VLC might be a good choice : the control panel can be detached from the video itself, so that I can choose the files to play from the control pannel, and let the public enjoy from a second screen (projection).

I've tryed both on windows (Vista) and linux (lubuntu 11.10) but there is a serious problem : once launched, the video has to be moved to the second screen and maximised. What I wish (and still cannot do) is that the projected screen would only show a blackout between 2 videos, and that once the next video is launched, it would be already maximised on the projection screen.

Am I clear enough ? Is that possible ?

Many thanks ! :D

You can set the preference in the Qt module (advanced pref) to where the fullscreen should go. And use a black background.

neeteex, i may be late in my reply but what you want to do is easy.

you'll need to have it set up before the show, pushing full screen to the 2nd monitor or projector. once you do that, when you close vlc it should save your set up and when you go to launch it again, if you haven't disconnected teh projector, it should go back to the exact settings you last had -full screen, no controls or border, pushing to the projector. you can search the preferences to eliminate all traces of back end technical info from being shown, and use the space bar to pause between video clips. you might need a black image to put between video clips if you cant add a few seconds of black between video clips, but images play for 10 seconds, and i've not found a way to change the length of time images are displayed.
