2nd Audio Device

Hi, I have speakers and a TV hooked up to the same system, and I had it set VLC to default to play audio only on the TV's speakers. Then I upgraded to the newest release and it broke this fix. I've been inside of Preferences, Advanced, audio output and have fiddled with the choices but can't seem to get it back to how it was before. Any suggestions?
