DVD picture muddled and sound bitty

Postby richard6559 » 23 Mar 2012 20:36

Hi. I don't think I have a Windows OS problem.

I have an ACER 5315 laptop. 1.73 Ghz Celeron processor. It has Vista Home Basic installed, service Pack 2. Has 2GB RAM.

The DVD drive is a MATSHITA DVD RAM UJ-850S ATA Device.

I'm running VLC media player 2.0.1 Twoflower but, the video is muddled and the sound is bitty.

Can I try to change any settings to get the picture unmuddled? Or can I install a different version of VLC? Thanks.

Oh, can play okay "The Day the Earth caught Fire" which is essentially a BW film. No idea if this means anything. This is a region 2 DVD which incidentally did play OK when my DVD drive was set to Region 1.

Okay, it's often very much a matter of what DVD you put in isn't it? Although every DVD will play in my tower PC, when it comes to my ACER laptop quite a few play properly, quite a few not. Perhaps I''m stuck with that situation on my ACER. Just one of those things.
