turn off 'open recent media'

I'm running the newest version of the vlc player. Everything works superbly.
Except the new feature (last version i used was 0.8.6.h) of 'open recent media'
Sometimes, it shows the files i played, other times, it doesn't. How do i just turn it off entirely?

Don't know what platform you're on, but it should be in a similar place to my Mac version I would think.
Prefernces -> Show All -> Interface -> Main interfaces -> (and then the one that is your platform. In my case macosx).
There I have an option for "Keep Recent Items". So I think the option you're looking for should be in the vicinity.

On windows it seems to be quite different. It's main interface-> Qt-> untick "recently played items in the menu."
That seems to remove the open recent media from the "media" menu
thanks.

Unfortunately not the case on the Mac side.
