mkv TrueHD sound taking forever to start
Posted: 16 Feb 2012 20:23
HD-DVD "Dawn of the Dead" ripped using MakeMKV with TrueHD 5.1 selected
Windows7 x64 VLC player 1.1.11
ffdshow indicates True HD decoder is libavcodec
When I play Dawn of the Dead mkv in VLCMP, video starts instantly but it takes over a minute for the sound to be heard. While video is playing, Media Information -> Statistics show Audio [Decoded 0 blocks Played 0 buffers Lost 0 buffers]. After about 1-2 minutes, the sound finally starts and the statistics show activity. If I click the time line to skip to a different part of the movie, it will take another 1-2 minutes for the sound to come on.
Any idea what's causing the sound decode delay?
Thanks very much.
