VLC does NOT advance to where I click in progress bar

So this only happens with some video clips. Let's say I'm watching a music video I have on my local machine (not streaming) wmv and I want to click in the slider progress bar to advance the video to 2:15 (as an example). I click but VLC always goes back to 1:49. In fact if I click it to advance it anywhere past 1:49 it ALWAYS goes back to 1:49 no matter where I click. Does this make any sense? This has happened to me before with other videos but I'm finally at the point where I'd really like to know what is up with it.
