Pausing Network Streams

Hi,

I'm having problems pausing network streams for periods longer than a few seconds. If I pause a network stream and leave it for let's say 20 seconds, then press play, the stream continues to play for a few seconds than stops the stream completely and displays the playlist. This happens every time when I pause streams for longer than a few seconds.

The videos I'm streaming are from online sources BTW.

Is there any way I can set something in the settings to fix this? My guess is that VLC disconnects from the server and when I press play again it just plays what it had buffered and then stops. IF this is the problem, can I set it to continue buffering while paused?
If there is no way to fix this in VLC now, can you recommend me some other media players that can stream video and that don't have this issue?

Thanks.

You can move this thread to "General VLC media player Troubleshooting", as I don't think this is platform specific.

Also, bump.

From your sarcasms, I infer you have paid for support. Since there is no paid support here, I suggest you turn to whomever you actually paid.

Hello!

Well, old thread, strange posts, anyway:

I have exact the same problem errmalt described above.
And this thread is the first entry to show up when you google for "vlc pause network".
Somebody found a solution yet?

This is what the debugging log tells me. Pausing for over a minute triggers this response. Sadly, not very informative.

Code: Select all

... status change: < play state: 3 >: Pause status change: < play state: 2 >: Play status change: < play state: 4 >: End status change: < play state: 4 >: End

managed to get this out of the log, a bit more informative.

Code: Select all

mpgatofixed32 error: libmad error: bad main_data_begin pointer main debug: playback too late (14000): flushing buffers
