Automatically scan folder/add files to VLC?

Adding files/folders to the VLC media player is simple enough, but it's a bit annoying that each time I throw more files in a particular folder I have to manually add them to VLC.

Is there any way that I can get VLC to automatically update the folders that are in the media library and pick up these additions?

I would love a fix for this problem - it takes a long time to add a whole music folder, which is a pain if you;ve just added a new album and want it to show up in the library.
