Playlist number limitation?

Hi,

Is there a limit for the number of files and/or directories VLC (1.11.111 Luggage) can handle?

I used to just add the root of my Vids drive and it loaded the ~1000 videos and I could go through them without problem.

I have added another ~2000 videos and updated VLC and can no longer do this. VLC just stops. Since I have added files to the drive AND updated VLC I can't say where the problem is, hence my question:

Is there a limit to files and/or directories I can get into the VLC playlist?

Thanks!!!

There is no strict limit. It depends on available memory and user tolerance for extra computational delays.

Thanks - for the bad news.
It means I have no idea why it crashes.

I've got the latest version of VLC. I've started using it to play music because Winamp is being discontinued. I'm still using XP.

With Winamp I was able to save all of my song files into a playlist with no issue. VLC seems to limit the playlist size. Not sure if it's the number of songs or the total length of time. Either way, when I load all of my songs into VLC, sort them and then save them to a playlist file on my desktop, when I go to open it, over half of the songs are no longer on the playlist.

What's the deal? Winamp was able to handle this very easily for the past 10 years or longer.

Same issue here, unable to save a large playlist file. Known issue? Solutions?
