I've read several times that VLC is supposed to play Mythtv recordings, and I sometimes get it working, sometimes not. I am copying the Linux file to Windows. Depending on the age of the recording, and the station, it may work, or it may hang on the first couple frames.

All recordings are produced from Mythtv, all HDTV digital recordings Over the Air. Older CBS recordings from 2007 play fine, but new recordings don't. PBS recordings play, but other stations don't. These are all raw (not transcoded) files.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to make them work, or if not, what additional info can I provide to assist?

I'm trying to play on Windows 7 laptop and VLC 1.1.11
