Does anyone know if there is a way to permanently apply the rotation of the video under "geometry"? I have to rotate the video each time a view it. Thanks for any help.

Enable the rotation filter and configure it in the advanced preferences.
But don't come and whine that VLC always rotates your videos in two months when you forgot how you configured it...

Thanks Remi . . . that worked . . . however, there is another problem . . . I had 5 videos, and as you said, it rotated all of them. 1 of the 5 videos, however, did not need to be rotated. How do I get the one to not be rotated? I tried inactivating the rotator button for that video, but it changed all the others. Is there a way to single out that 1 video for NOT rotating?

I don't think so.

The correct way would be to support the rotating atom in mp4/3gp and automatically rotate it...

Thank you Jean-Baptiste but I have only a basic understanding of this kind of media so I am not sure what you mean by "support the rotating atom in mp4/3pg" . . . can you further explain?

Just means VLC should use the rotation info embedded in the video file. But that would need new developments.

Thank you both for your help and insight
. . . maybe VLC will develop something new in the near future to address this issue . . . it would be nice
