Setting video delay

There is a pretty easy way in VLC to delay the sound of the media (in positive or negative direction). Is there such an easy way to delay the video (when playing streams from network or DVB tuner cards)?

The concrete problem: I want to watch live events with sound from a different source. The sound comes from a flash player with a considerable amount of delay. I'd like to delay the picture for the sound to catch up. Is there such an option? One that I have found is "Caching" on the file/open dialog, but it has to be set up before playback (no live tuning of the value).

You could pause to enable timeshifting...

Thanks! Are there any settings I need to be aware of? The delay would be around 10-15 sec, is there a chance that time shifting would "give up"?

vlc --live-caching=14500 (VLC 1.2)
or
vlc --dvb-caching=14500 (VLC 1.1)
