Mozilla plugin crash /w ASCii color art

I am observing weird behavior on both Ubuntu and Windows XP/7 OSs
I am using an RTP stream to display video (mpeg) over a web application (asp.net) on several clients.
After a while I find my clients displaying the mentioned web page, and the placeholder for VLC plugin is displaying the last played frame before something happened, and there is another windows (sometimes many windows) opened and the stream is being played in the foremost of these, in ASCii art.
As this happens on both OSes I am pretty sure its an internal error of some sort withing the plugin itself.
Furthermore, because this happens only after a considerable amount of time (cca 14+ hrs of playtime needs to pass before the error manifests) I can deduce that the problem may be connected with over-usage of resources, be it memory, cache, or tcp connections to x server on Ubuntu. In connection with X server, I have indeed found a VERY similar error (also crashes playback, opens a window and plays ASCii) plaguing Ubuntu OS when number of TCP connections to X server passes 256. Since there is no X server on windows and since the error manifests anyway..I don't know whether this is relevant.
Additionally, once the problem manifests itself, I can no longer start VLC Player (not the plugin, but the app), as soon as I kill firefox I can start VLC Player and the plugin will work as well.
I have turned screensaver off on both OSs, triple checked gfx driver and in general done a lot of troubleshooting before posting, all without success.
Please help!
