[SOLVED] Audio lags on the beginning of each music track

Hi, I would like to use VLC as my default audio player but there is one thing which drives me crazy. Either on windows or linux I am experiencing audio lags after the music track (mp3) is changed (manually, or automatically after reaching the end of the song). The rest of the track is OK though. I was trying to search for some topics dealing with this issue however they all seem to be dealing with audio lagging connected to the video playback.
Does anybody have similar problem/Any suggestion how to fix this issue? I would really appriciate it. Thx.

windows 7, linux mint. VLC 1.1.9
(other players - banchee - play mp3 without any problem)

well, it is simillar with the situation when the cpu is busy. music starts playing but stops for a little while then starts again, et cetera. after approx. 3 seconds everything seems to be fine. Is that what were you asking?

Okey, I tried to use ALSA as default. The problem with laggs is solved. But using alsa seems to create different issue. the sound stops after 30 seconds and then I hear nothing

Okay, second issue seems to be solved as well - most likely by updating the system.
