VLC closes while playing network stream.

Always when I open a video from the internet in VLC the player just closes after a while.
I'm currently using windows 7 but I had the same problem with Vista.
If there's no solution known for the problem, I would apreciatte too if someone knows another player that can open internet content without need to download the file. So far I've tried Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic, Gom Player, BS Player and more I can't remember now but they dind't work perfectly either.
