DVD closed captions -- positions not being read

Hello all,

I've been a long-time user of VLC and just decided to try testing closed captions for DVD with it. I'm noticing that VLC is not seeing (or using) the caption location information that is present in the stream. I tried using the file on WMP and on a DVD player so I know it works and that the encoding is correct.
Is there a setting that I'm missing or does VLC just not support it?

Thanks,

Closed captions carry a location code which is present in the stream (EIA-608/708). What I attempted to do was to view a DVD file (ie: VOB) with VLC and it did display the captions but they were all placed at the bottom of the screen and centered while the location should have varied (left or right, justified and not). When I burned it to an actual DVD and played it on an actual DVD player, the positions were intact. I also tried viewing the DVD via VLC and the positions did not work -- all the captions remained at the bottom and centered. I attemped to view the file with WMP and it displayed correctly.

I was using VLC player v1.1.11 and had the "closed captions" selection on under "subtitle track". The captions were encoded into the VOB file using an .scc file (Scenarist format).

Thanks.
Dave

P.S. if my description is still unclear, I can post a link to a demo file for illustration purposes.

Oh, now I see what you mean.

File a bug on trac.videolan.org and share a sample.
