Playing video H.264/AVC extension

Hi I've downloaded some videos from this site http://www.tkn.tu-berlin.de/research/evalvid/cif.html
The format of the video is x.264, I've tried to play them on the VLC, but VLC opens up and do not play the video. I have the latest version 1.1.11 of the VLC. I'm having this problem in both, Windows (7) and Linux (Ubuntu 10.10) OS.
What can I do to play theose videos?

Thanks!

Valmiro

I have the same problem with my H264 files. How does one "force demux"? I poked around the software and didn't see anything. Thanks!

Update: Ok I found the demux module via Tools/Preferences. I set it to FFmpeg per another post of yours. I do have video but now an audio issue (didn't have this before with the Default demux). The audio stutters for the couple of seconds then levels out and becomes normal. The customer I am working on this for won't accept that, so any audio settings advice to make both the audio and video perfect? Thanks!

PS: This happens on both my older XP and my new Windows 7. Both are Dell Workstations with good video cards.
