Selecting a TS program to play

I have a Transport Stream file that contains about 50 programs (captured from a cable channel by an HDHomerun device, if it matters). When I play the TS file, the media player automatically picks one of the programs and plays it. The Tools->Codec Information->Codec Details page correctly shows 100 or so streams (one audio and one video for each of the programs), but they are not grouped by program. And as expected, that page is just an information display, not a control interface that allows a stream to be selected.

How can the media player select a desired program (other than the default selection) from a transport stream for playback?

From the command line use --program=x where the value for x is the Service PID, aka SID, of the channel.
From the GUI you can use the menu Playback -> Program.
