vlc problem need help

hi guys i am using vlc for a long time and not have any problem untill 2 months ago.the problem is when i play in full screen the video runs like in slow motion and it has laq this happens to all video formats ecxept low resolutions formats like avi please help my graphics card is more than capable to play high definition its the nvidia gtx580 the vlc version i have its the latest the 1.1.10 luggagge. any settings that wiil work wiil really help me
