I couldn't find any help in my searches for this problem...

To duplicate problem
1. VLC media player is running and playing a .flv file
2. Open up Excel (2007) (Computer is running Win 7 64 bit).
3. The Excel file contains only 1 entry, in cell A1, a DDE link, for example, =TOS|Last!'/ES' (It could be ANY DDE link to running program that uses DDE)
4. Excel's Security Warning asks if want to enable automatic update of links. I click enable
5. Excel hangs (Program not responding)
6. I Stop or close VLC media player, and IMMEDIATELY Excel returns from the dead. I.e., the link updates and Excel is happy.

This only happens when VLC media player is running. This has happened for the last year. My current VLC is 1.1.9

BTW, if VLC is playing an mp3 audio, or mp4 video, there is no problem.

Thought I'd post in case it's a bug, or someone can help me out with a setting I'm overlooking.

There has not been a developer for the ActiveX/OLE component for the past 3 years. Until someone fills in, not much to expect...

I pretty much expected that, since DDE isn't used much anymore. Thanks.
