Any video I record with my miniDV videocamera THOMSON vmd712, VLC 1.9 reproduces the video correctly but the sound plays weird. This is the AVI file codec information scanned with GSpot:

The avi file comes in the original format, captured directly from my videocamera using the firewire cable, so I haven't saved it to another format.

Windows Media Player plays the AVI file correctly. Why VLC isn't capable of playing the audio correctly?

Sorry about the delay.
All the videos I have from my videocamera are more than 4Gb and I can't find my firewire cable to capture a short one, so I have cuted the first 60.000.000 bytes (60 mb) of one of my AVI files and saved it to a new file.

The bug is reproducible (audio doesn't play correctly in VLC and perfect in WMP), but now VLC displays that the AVI file is broken (logically).

jb, as you know the problem is in the AVI header, because if you save the AVI with VirtualDub using "Direct Stream Copy" (to not recode) in Audio and Video to a new one, the resulting AVI file is perfectly readable by all players (because VirtualDub rewrites the file header and frames and audio are exactly the same). So, why other players reproduce the audio correctly and not VLC? Do you know something? Looks like VLC has problems reading some AVI headers or something

This was set to "fixed" some weeks ago. VLC 2.0.2 (last version) breaks this... Can be a regression bug or it not was really successfully fixed? I have reopened the ticket:

No. It was fixed for 2.1, not in 2.0.2
