Switching languages between files

I've got a DVD rip of episodes of a TV show on my hard drive. They're .VOB seperated into 1gig chunks, so each hour is 1.8 gigs in two files. I queue up the files by selecting it to play the first VOB and then the second. The first file plays in English, but the second will switch what language "language 1" is, usually to French from English. This is weird because when I was experimenting with the MPlayer compile for Windows, I could set it to audio channel 128 (-aid 128) and play the entire thing in English. It's the same language on the DVD, so I don't see it would be switching when it switches files.

OS: Windows XP Home SP1
VLC: 0.8.1 Stable (switching to latest nightly build)

From what i've experienced over the years it appears VLC has not implemented persistence in track settings.. in other words... you need to reset it for each track.

It is annoying mind you, but i think enough people have made a stink over this that it will probably be implemented in the next version (I have yet to try this in the latest nightly builds)

In the nightly build , there's a lang and track parameter dor the audio and subtitles.

With the gui it's hidden in preferences/codec/advanced
