Transferring Ringtone from VLC to Mobile phone

I am 73 and not a whizz kid have just purchased an Archos1 Vision MP£ and want to transfer a ringtone from VLC to my Archos I have tried but nothing happens I am sure it must be simple but appears it is me that is Simple. Help please.
