TV Output- Black Screen- Not Overlay Prob

Ok. I have searched this form and most people with this problem turn off Video Overlay and thier problem is solved...not me.

I have a GeForce3 Ti200 connected to my TV. WMP work fine, but I am a VLC fan and would much rather use VLC. All I get is a black screen on my TV, but the sound work ok. I have disabled and enabled Video Overlay but it still doen't work. I'm running 0.8.1 and video works fine on my PC just not on my TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is just the VLC window area black, or the entire TV output? If the latter, make sure you have a TV plugged in before you turn on the output -- sometimes you need a load on the video output connector before it can be turned on.
