Yes. See your video folder.

My Video folder or My Document folder, or your home, whatever you call it.

I believe in 1.1 it is mostly the input. In 1.2, it gives also the adjustments.

Did you try looking in preferences?

Did you try looking in preferences?
yes, before posting. To avoid possible embarrassment. Couldn't find anything.
Now neither.

Only thing I had found back then was the directory for still image snapshots: preferences > all > video
Absent a search function, it would maybe be easier to find if all user directories would be selected on the same prefs page.

So where is it please?
Thank you.

Preferences->All->Stream Output->Stream out->Record

Thank you for your help. In VLC 1.1.11 I only have
Preferences->All->Stream Output->Sout Stream->Record

if that is the correct place.
However I have only one input element there: a text field labeled "Destination prefix" without any "browse folder" button (as is the case for other directory selection text fields, e.g. for snapshots) or drop-down list.

I tried various input formats, but nothing had any effect on the output

Code: Select all

D:\temp\REC\ D:\temp\REC D:/temp/REC D://temp//REC ggggggggggggg
I also pressed "save" after each change and also restarted VLC each time, just in case.
Here is a screenshot of my preferences window:

I am sincerely sorry, if I have missed something obvious.

I used VLC to record from a DVD, season 3 of the TV show Breaking Bad. There are a number of fairly lengthy scenes that are in Spanish, with English subtitles on the screen. I can see them when the DVD is playing, but when I record it, the subtitles are missing. Anyone know why?

I have been unable to make this function work. I start a DVD, press record, after ten seconds press record again, and stop the video. There is no new video file in my Documents folder; in fact nowhere in my computer is there any file that starts vlc-record. I'm using Windows 7. Any idea why VLP is not creating the clip?

Use handbrake for DVD ripping.

It should be in "My Videos" folder.

No, it's not in the "Videos" folder (Windows 7 does not have a "My Videos" folder). I have searched extensively and there is no new video clip anywhere in my computer immediately after I try to record one.

I scratched my head over this one for a little while.

From your screenshot you have the "all" preferences option ticked. I was unable to find the target directory settings to change it with that option. However, if you switch to "simple" the option is visible under the input and codecs (sorry I've not got my VLC in front of me so I can't be more specific)
