No Local Video While Streaming

While streaming, the video on VLC is all black. If I connect to the server from another VLC, it plays through just fine. It's not a major problem, but if I'm trying to jump around a video, I have to blindly pick a spot, wait for the stream to catch up, and hope I was somewhere close.
Another problem, also not major, but very annoying, is when I pause my stream, everyone who was connected gets disconnected. When I unpause the stream, they won't know about it until they manually reconnect. Any ideas to prevent this?

Don't do that. It cannot work and therefore it never will work.

Pause or seek while streaming

Actually, it works nearly perfect, other than the clients getting disconnected when I pause stream, but I found a solution to that. I have the clients connect to the server using Winamp. When I pause the stream, they lose connection, but Winamp automatically tries to reconnect until it is manually stopped. So when I unpause my stream, Winamp automatically reconnects the clients within a couple seconds.
Seeking works great, as well, other than the problem I mentioned. Any idea why the server client plays audio, but the video is black? If I could see the video on the server client, I'd have no problems with seeking. But again, I have to blindly click where I think I want to be, and wait for the clients to catch up. I can play the video through VLC just fine if I only wanted to watch the video without streaming, and I can see the video just fine if I connect to the server using a second VLC client.
