Faster playback with sound

Hi everyone! First I would like to say that I love VLC player, I recommend it to everyone I know. 
I really love the ability to increase the FPS without losing the audio, so I can watch videos at 1.5x or 2x speed and still have understandable audio. In fact I love it so much that I would like to know, if possible, what the c++ code is to do this so I can add this feature to my WDTV player firmware which doesn't allow this (lame)
