Choppy Video (MOV)

I am having trouble playing back some MOV files using VLC. When I use QuickTime, it is perfect on Mac and Windows.
VLC - On Windows, the video is choppy and there is no sound.
VLC - On MAC, the video is choppy, but the audio is fine.
