is it possible to write a open with vlc extension for drives

the play with vlc shell extension does not appear on cd drives or sd cards. would be nice to see this in the future.
for now can someone show me how to manually write this into the registry? i dont think drives have their own file type keys or shell subkeys and if they do i dont know where they are located.
