Video won't play after loading Subs

I'm pretty noob when it come to using all of VLC's features. I typically just load a video and watch it. DONE. Sometimes I like to watch my videos with SUBs because dialog in video always seems to be on the really low side. Anyway, I was watching Sherlock Holmes (an M2TS file) and downloaded some SUBs. Extracted them and then opened them with VLC as the video played. Then the video just stopped playing back after loading them. I've tried reloading the file and closing VLC and then reloading the file and the film just wont play. It seems to recognize that a file is loaded but it won't play. Other video files still load just fine and other video players will play the file (though i haven't tried loading subs on them). I wanna watch this movie and I want VLC to work. Please helps.

For M2TS and TS files, this is a known issue. You can't use external subs for those

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way I could at least get the file playing again without subs? I'm guessing when I tried to load the film up it just always associates it to the subs or something. Or will this particular file never play in VLC again? LOL. Anyway, thanks for your reply.
