Sorry if this is in the wrong area. I don't know if this is just in the Windows release or not.
The subject pretty well says it: I'd like to know how to take a snapshot of a video that is using soft-subtitles (with them active), but not include the subtitles. (I've searched, and couldn't find anything, even in the Wiki about this!)
So far, the only way I have found to do this is to pause, turn off subtitles, take the snapshot, turn the subtitles back on, unpause. Obviously, this is an annoyingly slow method, especially if someone wants to take multiple snapshots in a short time frame. Also, it tends to cause the subtitles or even the audio to have considerable lag before they are seen/heard again. (Alternately, I can re-watch the whole sequence over again, with subs constantly off, to get the snapshots. But that takes even longer in the end...)
I was using an older build, VLC 0.8.6f, until just recently, and it's default was to not include subtitles in snapshots, so I was rather surprised to see this change.
As of yet, it seems there is STILL no simple option to just turn this on or off... (That, or I haven't been able to recognize it, and would love to be told what that is) I won't claim to be have much, if any, knowledge in programming and such, but I hope it can't be too difficult a thing to put into the next build?
