I recon you guys (webmasters) have an overview of VLC downloads. I am curious as to how many Windows downloads there are compared to OS X and how many BeOS downloads there are and well the other platforms that you support :)

The poll is for the forum users.

I think that, if you account for the total amount of Mac users compared to the total amount of Windows users, VLC is most popular on the Mac.
But they are catching up fast.

The statistics over oktober showed:
359997 /pub/videolan/vlc/0.6.2/win32/vlc-0.6.2-win32.exe
99851 /pub/videolan/vlc/0.6.2/win32/vlc-0.6.2-win32.zip
85974 /pub/videolan/vlc/0.6.2/macosx/vlc-0.6.2.dmg

I tried to do some sums over the statistics since august. The windows version was downloaded >1 000 000 times. The mac os x version < 400 000 if I recall correctly. Linux users most probably just download the source, or download binaries from their distro, so giving a idea on how many linux users there are whould be really hard

OS X users have fewer options

OS X users probably favor VLC so much because we have few other options. For example, Apple's bundled DVD player doesn't de-interlace on older hw.

VideoLAN website statistics are public ( http://www.videolan.org/stats/ ) and if you take a look at it, you can see how many times the main versions of VLC have been downloaded
