Cover art not showing in fullscreen

When i'm playing a song that does not have cover art or is a single i right click the VLC icon (below the playlist window) and click download cover art and it will come up, but it won't do it automatically, it resets to no cover art each time i restart VLC and the only time i can get cover art to show is when i have playlist window enabled and it's such a small box, i want it full screen. anyone know how to fix these problems (assuming that these are problems and that VLC isn't just incapable of auto downloading cover art, keeping the cover art, and displaying it in full screen)?
