Playing of MP4 over HTTP-streaming

I am trying to play this video http://tagesschau.vo.llnwd.net/d3/video ... 1.h264.mp4
It is H.264/AAC packed in MP4 and streamed over HTTP, the VLC Player is Version 1.1.5 The Luggage.
I have tried playing on MAC and Windows Vista and got the same problem - the video is stuttering all the time. It plays for few seconds then stops and buffers, plays for few seconds, stops and buffers ...
I have run several tests to determine the problem source, and here are the facts:
- when I download the file and play it, it plays smoothly
- when I stream the file from the internet:
---- and I switch off the audio part "Audio track = disable", the video part plays smoothly
---- and I switch off the video part "Video track = disable", the audio plays smoothly
- when I stream the file to MPlayer, the video runs smoothly, but it takes 30 seconds upfront buffering before it gets going
- when I stream the file to QuickTime, the video runs smoothly, but it takes 30 seconds upfront buffering before it gets going
- when I stream it to Adobe Flash player, the video runs smoothly, and it starts within 3-4 seconds from the time I trigger the player

Based on these facts I reckon there is something particular in VLC player making problems, but I can not figure it out. Is it something in the file I am streaming that VLC does not support, or is VLC not supporting fully MP4(H.264/AAC) over HTTP?
