i had VLC for awhile and it was working fine but for some reason lately everytime i try to load a video it shows a few seconds of video then locks up.
i tried uninstalling and reinstalling it that didn't work. also i have the windows 7 64bit

If you didn't change VLC itself for this to happen, then it's probably something else. Device driver update is an obvious potential culprit.

what driver would it be? i have no clue

How would I know? I was not the one using your computer.
