No audio with VLC Media Player

I am trying to convert my VHS to DVD using the VLC Media Player. I am using EasyCap to transfer from the VCR to my computer. I did have everything working fine, but for some reason the audio stopped working. I see the video streaming fine through the media player but I cannot hear anything. I've tried different settings for the audio through capture mode, but I can't figure out why I do not have any audio with my video???

I am having a similar problem. I am using "convert" on a DVD. VLC produces a .ps file withthe video. But I do not get any audio.

Can anyone please help with this?
