.MPG and Subtitle Problems

Postby Krogdor » 12 Dec 2010 03:48

I have a number of .mpg files encoded primarily for my PS3 (using mkv2vob) that play fine normally on VLC. However, if I try to load a subtitle track to play over it, VLC stops playing, showing only a black screen and no time information or sound. If I have a subtitle track with the same name as the video, so that the subtitle will be loaded automatically, the video never begins playing, and VLC doesn't really show any indication of knowing that it opened a video file (showing 00:00/00:00, black screen, grayed out timeline, etc). The subtitles are text-only .srt files, and the video is HD (around 1280x528) encoded with H.264 and AC3 audio.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems // has a solution for this?

This is a known limitation. Patch is welcome.

Okay just wanted to make sure this is known. That means there's no point in submitting a bug report, right?
